Plan of the Month
Essington
|
An old cliche’ says “good things come in small packages”-which is the perfect description for June’s Plan of the Month. The Essington appears to be small in stature and quite modest but with close inspection the “good things” are easily recognized.
The exterior is truly “American” traditional with clapboard siding, symmetric windows and gable roof. The charming front porch offers an open invitation to come inside to all passers- by. The timeless exterior design style is accepted on all lots and building sites.
The perception of the home changes immediately upon entering- the modest two-story becomes a modern home ready to provide a comfortable living environment for the occupants. A large grand room and well appointed kitchen anchor the first floor. The master suite with spa bath and large closet provide privacy and sanctuary for the owners. An office and family sized laundry are conveniently located near the kitchen. A covered porch and open deck/patio provide outdoor space for entertaining and family gatherings.
The second floor is perfect for the expanding family. Three bedrooms with great closets and a large bath will handle the kids. The optional bonus room has the flexibility to be a recreation space or an extra bedroom. The second floor also contains a homework/computer station for studies and games along with a large closet to eliminate clutter and organize games and toys.

How Builders Market Backward
Marketing veterans explain builders need to think of who, exactly, their buyer is before creating communities and product.
A lot of home builders and developers have been doing things backward when they create their communities and design new homes, two marketing veterans told a large audience of builders and developers at Hanley Wood’s Housing Leadership Summit on Tuesday.
Instead of asking themselves where or what they should build, the presenters told the audience of builders that they should figure out who they are building for and then work from there to the where and what. Read More
